GOALIE SAANI SAYS BYE TO KOTOKO...Hasmal is new home (GRAPHIC SPORTS, BACK PAGE, JAN 22, 2010)

Goalkeeper Saani Mohammed has ended his acrimonious relationship with Kumasi Asante Kotoko after he was offloaded to Sekondi Hasaacas at the close of the second window of the player registration exercise.
The estranged goalkeeper saw very little action after he joined Asante Kotoko two seasons ago.
Saani, who accused the Kotoko management of deliberately securing his services from rivals Hearts of Oak only to dump him as punishment for denying the Porcupine Warriors the opportunity to win the maiden CAF Confederation Cup in 2004, was transferred at a reported fee of GH¢10,000.
And even then Kotoko would not receive the cash because the amount is to be used to defray a debt Kotoko owe the Sekondi club.
Other players the management has transferred include Gani Yaya and Hana Giwah, who have headed back to Real Tamale United, and Gado Mohammed.
In another development, unconfirmed reports say Kumasi Asante Kotoko management member, Helena Cobbina, has resigned.
The retired police officer is said to have taken the decision following disagreement with other management members over the retention of goalkeeper Isaac Amoako.
The agile goalkeeper wrote to the management asking for the payment of some amount of money owed him by the club, or he be allowed to join another club of his choice.
A club source said Madam Cobbina insisted that the keeper be allowed to leave the club.
However, other management members rejected her stand and rather proposed for a meeting with the player to resolve the issue.
The source said this did not go down well with Madam Cobbina who decided to leave the management in protest.
But when contacted, a source close to management said no official letter had been received from Madam Cobbina.
It said until a letter was received to that effect, the story should be treated as mere rumour.
